LIMINAL brings the photographic works by Jean Bettingen into the world of and into dialogue with the jewelry by Yasser Dallal, designer, and founder of Astartelux. Yasser Dallal’s collection of timeless jewelry pieces in gold and silver trace a story of the Eastern Mediterranean cultural richness, transcending from ancient times until today. Jean Bettingen created a dedicated limited edition of 10 black/white images, produced on silver and gold brushed aluminum, which will be on view at the Astartelux PopUp Store in Luxembourg City. All photographs were taken with various antique cameras, such as a Brownie, an Argus 75 or even a 4 x 5’’ pinhole camera.

About Jean Bettingen

Jean Bettingen is a visual artist and fine art photographer based in Luxembourg. In his work he addresses the inter-dependencies of visual representations and the constructs of identity, memory, and self-representation. He is especially interested in the possibilities and limitations of lens-based media to capture, represent, and archive the human being. He earned his Master in Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Photography, Video and Related Media at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and is exhibiting his work internationally.
